Neiman Marcus Bars

This is an easy to make and very inexpensive dessert. Whenever we do potlucks at work, this is what I make. It is one of my favorite desserts and very rich, so a little goes a long way.

Ingredients:
  • 1 Box Butter Pecan Cake Mix
  • 2 Sticks butter
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 (16-ounce) box of confectioners' (powdered) sugar
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
Directions:
  1. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, 1 stick of the butter (pre-melted), and 1 egg.
  2. Press this into the bottom of a Pam coated 9 x 13 baking pan.
  3. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese w/ 1 stick of butter (also pre-melted) and 2 eggs.
  4. Beat in confectioners' sugar a little at a time until it is homogeneous paste.
  5. Pour over the previous layer.
  6. Bake at 300 degrees for up to 55 minutes (the top will be lightly browned and a toothpick stuck in it will not come out gooey).
  7. Cool and cut into squares.
